Prof. Christian Montag, Distinguished Professor of Centre of Cognitive and Brain Sciences (CCBS) at the University of Macau, has been named in the prestigious World’s Top 2% Scientists list for 2025. This ranking, compiled by Stanford University using Elsevier’s Scopus data, evaluates scientists based on standardized citation indicators like the composite c-score, h-index, and citations. Prof. Montag’s work focuses on the intersection of psychology, neuroscience, and digital technologies, including AI’s impact on behavior and digital phenotyping.

Prof. Montag, who joined UM in April 2025 as Associate Director of the Institute of Collaborative Innovation (ICI), has made significant strides in the fields of digital phenotyping, mobile sensing, and the psychological effects of AI and social media. His 2025 metrics include an h-index of 89 and more than 28.000 citations (according to Google Scholar). Within the World’s Top 2% Scientists list he ranks on position 15078. With over 400 peer-reviewed publications, his work addresses pressing issues such as Internet use disorders and AI’s influence on mental health.
